Will Hurd roared across the finish line last night winning 80% of the primary vote. Dr. Alma Arrendondo-Lynch, who challenged Hurd from the right and won endorsements from a handful of fringe conservative groups, received just over 6,000 votes for 20% of the total vote.
Current Congressman Hurd will represent the Republicans on the ballot for CD-23 in Novemeber.
It is unknown who Hurd will face in the general election, as the Democrats have yet to settle their own CD-23 primary. The Democrats are headed to a run-off with Gina Ortiz-Jones facing either Rick Trevino or Judy Canales.
